Derby and Derbyshire Economic Partnership (DDEP) has teamed up with Derbyshire County Council to launch its new Redundant Rural Buildings Grant Scheme which will see grants of up to £60,000 being offered to owners of redundant buildings to convert their premises for business use.
Applicants will be required to show that the newly restored buildings will be able to provide new business opportunities, particularly workspace, creating new jobs and benefiting the local economy.
Grants are available to a range of people including owner occupiers, limited companies, charities and co-operatives. The county council is running the scheme on behalf of DDEP and grants of up to 25 per cent, to a maximum of £60,000, will be available.
The minimum grant awarded will be £20,000 and confirmation will be needed that all planning permission has been granted for any work before grants are given out. People who are interested in applying for a grant should do so before 7 November this year and in this first round applicants should have planning permissions in place with work scheduled to be finished by the end of March next year.
The grant scheme will end in March 2008 and there will be further application rounds next year, although interested people can contact the county council at any time for an informal discussion about the opportunities available. Potential applicants for the first round of grants can get more information about the scheme and a copy of an `expression of interest' form from the county council websites.
For advice on the detail of the scheme contact Derbyshire County Council's senior economic development officer:
